Configure a parent and a child picklist.
Set the Business Component property of the parent picklist to Picklist Hierarchical.
E.g. My Country
Set the Business Component property of the child picklist to PickList Hierarchical Sub-Area.
e.g My State
Go to the business component that contains the fields that you want to associate the hierarchical picklists with.
Set the Picklist property of the parent field to the parent picklist.
Set the Immediate Post Changes property of the parent field to TRUE.
Set the PickList property of the child field to the child picklist.
For the child field, create the following Pick Map objects.
|[name of parent field]||Parent||TRUE|
|[name of child field name]||Value|
e.g Field : My Country : Parent :TRUE
Field : My State : Value
2.1 Also In Parent Field > Pick Map > Create New Record
|[name of child field name]||Dummy|
e.g Field : My State : Dummy ( It will clears the previous entered value in child picklist. )
2.2 If Parent field is not entered or blank then Child field must have to show all the values for that set following properties.
Go to Field>Pick Map> Pick Map UpdOnlyIfNull>
e.g Child Field [My State]> Pick Map [Parent Field My Country]>Pick Map UpdOnlyIfNull > Create New Record as Field[Child Record Field Name] My State
Compile changes to a repository file.
Add LOV values using the Parent LIC column to designate the parent value.
To 3 level Hierarchical Picklist (My Country -> My State -> My City)
6.1 Create Calculated Field
Name : My State Calculated Val
Calculated Value : [My State] ; bcoz I have to use States as Parent for child field City.
6.2 Create Static unbounded picklist on your Calculated Field which we are using as Parent
6.3 Enter only those LOV’s in Calculated value static picklist which are in My State picklist’s LOV’s.
6.4 Enter only those LOV’s values using the Parent LIC column to designate the parent value in Calculated value static picklist which are in My State picklist’s LOV’s.
6.5 Follow same procedure which you are using to create Hierarchical picklist.
